2. Highlighted Events

November and December are high season for auctions in Beijing
We are excited to see which buried treasures Council, Poly, China Guardian, Hanhai and other auction houses will bring to light in their upcoming autumn auctions between middle of November and middle of December.

Zhang Xiaogang “The Record” solo exhibition at Pace Gallery in Beijing
After a long break following the Olympics Pace Gallery is re-opening with a show by Zhang Xioagang. In the show he goes beyond his typical paint on canvas and created some new works made of metal plates as well as some sculptures.

Ai Weiwei at Faurschou, Beijing, and Haus der Kunst, Munich
We were happy to attend the opening of the amazing show my Ai Weiwei at Haus der Kunst in Munich. One of the favourite pieces is the astonishing 10,6 x 35,6 m soft rug in Hall Two. But also in Beijing Ai Wei Wei is currently on show with his world map and an installation from the 2007 Documenta project at Faurschou Gallery in Beijing.

Rent Collection Courtyard at Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt
Parallel to the Frankfurt book Fair the Schirn Kunsthalle is showing a major work of the Chinese modern art: The Rent Collection Courtyard. The topic was in recent years used by artists such as Cai Guo-Qiang and Li Zhangyang but the piece in Frankfurt is the (more or less) original piece created back in the 1960s by an art collective originating from the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute.
